Program Overview
This program gives education students a rare opportunity to undertake an intensive international study program. The course, hosted by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, will give participants detailed insight into teaching theory and practice in the USA today as well as an opportunity to observe classroom teaching in practice.
The dynamic city of Charlotte, close to the East Coast, serves as a stunning backdrop for this program that will include lectures and seminars, site visits and classroom time in a US
school. Aside from looking at teaching practices in the USA, the program will also address the hot issues in US education today, and include sessions on urban education, special needs students, diversity in the classroom, assessment and the use of technology.
This program is one not to be missed by teaching students. As it takes place during the Australian summer holidays there will also be ample opportunity for students to travel around the USA either before or after the program.
Charlotte, North Carolina, offers the excitement of a cosmopolitan city and the ease of Southern charm, giving it a unique atmosphere.
Nicknamed the “Queen City”, Charlotte is named in honour of the German princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg who had become Queen Consort of British King George III, the year before the city’s founding.
