Language & Culture in Mexico
Language & Culture in Mexico

This Spanish program is run by AIM Overseas’ partner La Salle University and is opened to students at beginner, intermediate and advanced level.

Mexico City offers a wonderfully diverse environment with its Centro Historico, Spanish colonial architecture, great museums, pre-Hispanic waterways, nearby spectacular pyramids etc…
The university is well known for the level of the courses it delivers - the teaching faculty provides language programs to a large section of the diplomatic and expatriate community - and its excellent level of students’ services.
The 2011 program included*:

•4 hours of conversation classes
•18 hours of classes in Mexican History, Culture and Traditions
•Mexican cooking and salsa class
•Day trips to the pyramids, Xochicalco, Tepotzotlan, Coyoacan, Xochimilco etc
•Overnight trip to Puebla and Cholula
Accommodation is in Homestay, with easy access to the University, and includes two meals per day.

Feedback from Anika Evans, UTS student:
"This course is a great way to learn a language and history of another country. There are plenty of opportunities to go exploring on your own in your free time, as well as go on planned excursions to cities outside of the campus location.
I was a complete beginner, had no Spanish under my belt, so I was put into a class with another student who was a complete beginner. I am amazed at how much content we got through in 3 and a half weeks!
I found all of us girls who took the AimOverseas program really bonded because we were all so eager to experience as much of the Mexican culture as possible, and by showing our interest the La Salle coordinators offered to take us to other cities and just answer any queries we had regarding their culture and history. (...) The Mexican people themselves as a culture are so beautiful. The people we met were so generous, friendly, and eager to make our experience of their country as positive as possible. (...) I have made friends with many locals in Mexico City and plan to visit them again in the near future!".
* The 2012 program and inclusions may vary from the 2011 itinerary.
